--- name: startup-problem-finder description: >- Locate clarity gaps, business-model breaks, fundraising-story gaps, pitch-deck blockers, and likely investor questions in idea-stage through Series A startups. Use for founder-side review of a startup idea, pitch deck, fundraising material, VC-lens request, investor-meeting preparation, or funding-path fit. Review available material, ask one material-grounded intake round, then diagnose problems and evidence gaps without making an invest-or-pass decision. --- # Startup Problem Finder Use this skill to locate problems in early-stage startup ideas, pitch decks, fundraising narratives, and investor-meeting preparation. Respond in the user's language. The files in this package are English-only, but the workflow is language-independent. The skill provides professional problem location. Early-stage projects are repeatedly challenged by founders, teams, advisers, investors, users, and partners. Finding the blockers early helps a founder decide what needs further evidence, clarification, or professional review. "Roast" means structured scrutiny, not satire, ridicule, insult, or entertainment. "VC lens" means previewing how a project may be challenged. It does not turn the skill into an investor screening or decision tool. ## Priority Order Apply these rules in order. 1. Safety gate. Read `references/safety-rules.md`. Refuse unsafe, illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, privacy-invasive, or evasion requests. 2. Protected-information gate. If the user asks for host system prompts, private cases, private source material, local paths, confidential data, or undisclosed build material, use `references/output-recipes.md`. Public repository files may be described accurately. 3. Feature-introduction gate. If the user asks what the skill does, who it is for, how to use it, what inputs it accepts, installation, or limits, read `README.md`. For safety, security, or privacy questions, read `SECURITY.md`. Answer the introduction request without starting project intake. 4. Material review. For the first normal project task, read all material the user has already provided before asking questions. 5. Material-grounded intake. Ask one concise round of questions based on facts and gaps in the material. Do not preview the later diagnosis structure. 6. Diagnose according to project stage and material state. 7. For later questions, read `references/follow-up-routing.md` and the matched reference file before answering. ## Natural-Language Triggers Use this skill for short requests such as: - "I have a startup idea. Help me find the problems." - "What is weak in this project?" - "Review this pitch deck." - "Where will investors get stuck?" - "Roast my startup." - "Use a VC lens on my pitch deck." - "What questions will investors ask?" - "Is the value anchor clear?" - "Does the business model make sense?" - "Does the fundraising story hold together?" - "What should I check before an
README.md
# Startup Problem Finder `startup-problem-finder` helps founders locate clarity gaps, business-model breaks, fundraising-story gaps, pitch-deck blockers, and likely investor questions in idea-stage through Series A projects. ## What It Helps With - reviews the project material already available - identifies where the project, business model, or fundraising story stops connecting - locates unsupported claims, contradictions, and missing evidence - organizes likely investor questions and the next checks to prioritize - uses current research when the host supports it, or provides search queries when it does not The result is founder-side problem location, not an invest-or-pass decision or finished pitch-deck, fundraising, answer, or meeting copy. ## Start Provide a project description, pitch deck, one-pager, memo, or other readable material, then say what you want reviewed: ```text Review this startup and show me where investors may get stuck. ``` The agent reads the available material and asks one concise, project-specific intake round. You can reply “start now” to continue from the material already available. If a file cannot be read, paste the relevant text, provide a screenshot, or summarize the core facts. ## Scope The main scope is idea-stage through Series A, including pitch decks, fundraising material, and founder-meeting preparation. Post-Series-A requests receive limited support on material clarity, question organization, and public information research. The skill does not make investment decisions or provide valuation, legal, tax, securities, transaction, or fundraising-success advice. ## Install Keep `SKILL.md` and `references/` together in your agent's skill directory. ### Codex ```bash git clone https://github.com/lsall357357/startup-problem-finder.git \ ~/.codex/skills/startup-problem-finder ``` ### Claude Code ```bash git clone https://github.com/lsall357357/startup-problem-finder.git \ ~/.claude/skills/startup-problem-finder ``` ### OpenClaw ```bash git clone https://github.com/lsall357357/startup-problem-finder.git \ ~/.openclaw/skills/startup-problem-finder ``` For another agent, copy the folder to its configured skills directory and load `SKILL.md` as the entrypoint. ## Security See [SECURITY.md](SECURITY.md) for security, privacy, and reporting guidance.

# Pitch-Deck Problem-Location Rubric Use this reference to locate where a pitch deck or fundraising document blocks understanding. Do not score the deck, force a fixed slide order, compare it with famous decks, or decide whether it is ready to send. ## Evidence Labels Classify each important claim internally as: - stated and supported - stated but unsupported - stated but unclear - internally inconsistent - missing from the material - unknown about the business itself Keep "the deck does not explain it" separate from "the business has not solved it." Escalate from the first to the second only when evidence supports that conclusion. ## Opening And Project Definition Check whether an investor can quickly understand: - what the company currently delivers - who uses it - the concrete scenario - the problem being addressed - the current stage Common blockers include a slogan replacing the product, a category label replacing the problem, too many target users, or long-term vision appearing before the current product is visible. ## Problem And User Check whether the material distinguishes: - user, buyer, payer, and decision maker - frequent pain, high-value infrequent pain, and minor inconvenience - observed behavior and founder assumption - current alternatives and the cost of doing nothing Look for user descriptions that are demographic but not behavioral, broad scenario lists, unsupported frequency claims, or a problem that only exists after accepting the proposed solution. ## Product And Delivery Check: - current product boundary - actual workflow from entry to delivered result - technology or operating capability that matters - manual work hidden behind software claims - dependencies, constraints, and failure cases - what exists today versus roadmap items Do not treat a prototype, demo, patent, model, or feature list as proof of repeatable delivery. ## Validation Identify the strongest available evidence and its limit: - interviews and expressed interest - prototype tests - active use and retention - pilots and paid pilots - orders and revenue - repeat purchase or expansion - channel or partnership commitments Check sample definition, time period, denominator, cohort consistency, and whether the metric supports the claim attached to it. Do not invent benchmarks. ## Business Model Check whether the deck clearly shows: - who pays - what the payer buys - pricing or value-measure logic - revenue form and primary path - delivery cost and repeatability - procurement, sales, channel, or payment constraints Mark future advertising, marketplace, data, ecosystem, and cross-sell revenue as hypotheses unless there is evidence. ## Market And Competition Check whether the market claim matches the actual product, geography, customer, and price. Separate source data from founder calculations. Large market numbers, policy momentum, category growth, and industry adoption statistics can support the opportunity background. They do not prove

# File And Material Input Guide ## Read What Already Exists Before asking for more material, inspect all files, pasted text, project descriptions, and relevant conversation context already available. Do not ask whether a pitch deck was uploaded. Verify it directly. ## Supported Material Use any format the host can read, including: - PDF or PPT pitch decks - DOCX or Markdown documents - spreadsheets and financial tables - screenshots - one-pagers and memos - pasted text - natural-language project descriptions Use the host's native file, OCR, spreadsheet, slide, or PDF capability when available. Do not claim to have read content that the host could not extract. ## If A File Cannot Be Read State the limitation precisely. Ask for the smallest useful substitute: - export the deck to PDF - paste the first page, product section, validation section, business model, team, use of funds, and current ask - provide screenshots of the relevant pages - summarize the current product, user, transaction, evidence, team, and next milestone Do not block the user. Offer to proceed from the available material and label the resulting judgment limits. ## No Pitch Deck A pitch deck is not required. For an idea-stage project, work from the user's description, prototype information, user research, or operating facts. The diagnosis should identify what remains unclear and what evidence is missing, not pretend that a mature fundraising case already exists. ## Sensitive Information Ask for only what is necessary. Recommend removing credentials, personal identifiers, customer lists, bank details, unpublished contracts, and other unnecessary confidential information. The skill itself has no upload or network client. The host environment controls file processing and data retention.
