# WorkBuddy iCloud Sync

## Overview

Synchronize WorkBuddy configuration across multiple Macs using a **bare Git
repository stored in iCloud Drive**. No external service required — just log
into the same iCloud account on every machine. After setup, identity, memory,
skills, and settings stay in sync automatically via a background daemon.

## Workflow

### Phase 1: Set Up Mac A (Primary Machine)

#### Step 1: Verify iCloud Drive

# iCloud Sync Architecture & Troubleshooting

## How It Works

iCloud Drive treats the bare git repo as a regular folder. When Mac A pushes,
the bare repo files update; iCloud propagates the changes to Mac B's local
iCloud Drive copy; Mac B's daemon then pulls from that local copy.

## Common Issues

### iCloud hasn't synced the bare repo yet
**Symptom**: Mac B can't find `WorkBuddy-sync.git` in iCloud Drive
**Fix**: On Mac A, verify the push succeeded. On Mac B, open Finder → iCloud
Drive and check if the folder appears. Force iCloud sync:

### Merge conflicts during auto-sync
**Symptom**: `git pull --rebase` fails
**Fix**:

Risk: Unintended files may sync if exclusions are incomplete or modified.

Mitigation: Review the provided .gitignore template and confirm credentials, runtime state, databases, logs, sessions, and machine-specific files remain excluded before the first push.

Risk: The scripts can alter global Git settings when user.name or user.email is unset.

Mitigation: Check existing Git configuration before installation and update it manually if the generated WorkBuddy-local identity is not appropriate.
