# Overleaf Skill

## OpenClaw Plugin Available

For full agent tool integration (6 native tools: overleaf_clone, overleaf_branch, overleaf_compile, overleaf_push, overleaf_status, overleaf_health), install the Overleaf plugin:

```bash
openclaw plugins install clawhub:@wahajahmed010/openclaw-overleaf
```

Plugin on ClawHub: `@wahajahmed010/openclaw-overleaf`

The skill below covers the manual workflow. The plugin provides the same functionality as native agent tools.

Manage Overleaf LaTeX projects through git integration. Clone projects, create branches for tailored versions, edit LaTeX, compile locally, and push back.

## Prerequisites

- Git (2.30+)
- TeX Live or MiKTeX (for local compilation)
- Overleaf account with git access enabled

## Setup

### 1. Store Overleaf credentials

```bash
# Create credentials file
echo "[email protected]" > ~/.openclaw/.overleaf_credentials
echo "OVERLEAF_PASSWORD=your_password_or_token" >> ~/.openclaw/.overleaf_credentials
chmod 600 ~/.openclaw/.overleaf_credentials
```

Or use a personal access token (recommended):

```bash
echo "[email protected]" > ~/.openclaw/.overleaf_credentials
echo "OVERLEAF_TOKEN=your_personal_access_token" >> ~/.openclaw/.overleaf_credentials
chmod 600 ~/.openclaw/.overleaf_credentials
```

### 2. Install LaTeX (if not installed)

```bash
# Ubuntu/Debian
sudo apt-get install -y texlive-latex-base texlive-latex-extra texlive-fonts-recommended
# macOS
brew install --cask mactex
# Verify
which pdflatex && pdflatex --version
```

### 3. Configure git credential helper

```bash
# Store credentials so you don't get prompted
git config --global credential.helper store
```

## Workflow

### Clone a Project

```bash
# Get the project ID from the Overleaf URL
# e.g., https://www.overleaf.com/project/abc123def456 → project ID is abc123def456
PROJECT_ID="abc123def456"
# Clone
git clone "https://git.overleaf.com/${PROJECT_ID}" my-resume
cd my-resume
```

### Create a Branch for a Tailored Version

```bash
# Branch per company/role
git checkout -b resume/company-slug
```

### Edit LaTeX

Edit the `.tex` files as needed. See [references/latex-patterns.md](references/latex-patterns.md) for common resume edit patterns.

### Compile Locally (Always Before Pushing)

```bash
# Compile to verify no errors
pdflatex -interaction=nonstopmode main.tex
# If the resume uses bibtex:
pdflatex main.tex && bibtex main && pdflatex main.tex && pdflatex main.tex
```

# LaTeX Resume Patterns

Common edit patterns for tailoring LaTeX resumes.

## Reorder Experience Section

Move the most relevant job to the top by cutting and pasting the entire `\entry` block.

```latex
% BEFORE (irrelevant job first)
\section{Experience}
\entry{Irrelevant Company}{Irrelevant Role}{2020--2022}{Description...}
\entry{Relevant Company}{Relevant Role}{2022--Present}{Description...}
% AFTER (relevant job first)
\section{Experience}
\entry{Relevant Company}{Relevant Role}{2022--Present}{Description...}
\entry{Irrelevant Company}{Irrelevant Role}{2020--2022}{Description...}
```

## Rewrite Bullet Points to Mirror JD Language

```latex
% BEFORE (generic)
\item Built backend services for data processing
\item Improved system performance
% AFTER (mirroring JD keywords like "distributed systems", "real-time", "Kafka")
\item Designed and deployed distributed data processing services handling 50K+ events/sec using Kafka
\item Reduced system latency by 40% through real-time optimization of data pipelines
```

## Remove Irrelevant Sections

Comment out sections that don't match the role:

```latex
% \section{Teaching Experience}
% \entry{...}
```

## Add Keywords to Skills Section

```latex
% BEFORE
\skills{Python, Docker, AWS, SQL, Git}
% AFTER (mirroring JD: "Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD")
\skills{Python, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, CI/CD, SQL, Git}
```

## Adjust Summary/Objective

```latex
% BEFORE (generic)
\summary{Experienced software engineer with a background in web development.}
% AFTER (targeted)
\summary{Backend engineer with 5+ years building distributed systems and real-time data pipelines. Experienced in Python, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure at scale.}
```

## Quantify Achievements

```latex
% BEFORE (vague)
\item Reduced API response times
% AFTER (quantified)
\item Reduced P95 API response times from 800ms to 120ms through caching and query optimization
```

## German Market Specifics

- **No photo** — remove any `\photo{}` command
- **No objective** — remove `\objective{}` or `\summary{}` if it reads like one
- **Include availability date** — add `\availability{Available from 01.07.2026}`
- **Include salary expectation** — if requested: `\salary{€75,000--€90,000}`
- **Date format** — DD.MM.YYYY (European)
- **Language** — English for international companies, German if specified

## Description:

Manage Overleaf LaTeX projects through git workflows, local LaTeX compilation, resume version branches, and optional native OpenClaw plugin tools.

This skill is ready for commercial/non-commercial use.

## Publisher:

[wahajahmed010](https://clawhub.ai/user/wahajahmed010)

### License/Terms of Use:

MIT-0

## Use Case:

Developers and document authors use this skill to clone, branch, edit, compile, and push Overleaf-hosted LaTeX projects, especially tailored resume versions. Agents can use it to propose safe git and LaTeX workflows while checking credentials, connectivity, and local compilation before publishing changes.

### Deployment Geography for Use:

Global

## Known Risks and Mitigations:

Risk: The workflow stores Overleaf credentials in a local plaintext file.

Mitigation: Prefer a revocable Overleaf token instead of a password, restrict the credentials file to mode 600, and rotate the token if the workstation or file is exposed.

Risk: The setup recommends global git credential storage.

Mitigation: Use a scoped credential helper or OS keychain instead of enabling plaintext global credential storage.

Risk: The suggested OpenClaw plugin install is unpinned third-party executable code.

Mitigation: Review and pin the plugin separately before installation, and treat it as a separate trust decision from this skill.

Risk: The workflow can push local changes to Overleaf projects.

Mitigation: Compile locally, review git diffs, pull remote web edits first, and avoid force-pushing to protected base branches.
