Setup snapshot

git clone https://github.com/BlueBirdBack/repo-audit-modes-skill.git
  1. 1

Setup complexity is LOW. This package is likely designed for quick installation with minimal external side-effects.

  2. 2

Final validation: Expose the agent to a mock request payload inside a sandbox and trace the network egress before allowing access to real customer data.

name: repo-audit-modes description: "Analyze software repositories with three modes: (1) quick scan, (2) full deep audit, and (3) clone + run locally. Repo Audit Modes

Overview

Use this skill to review a repository with the depth the user wants. Always map the request to one mode first:

  • 1 = quick scan (fast)
  • 2 = full deep audit
  • 3 = clone + run locally

If the user does not pick a mode, ask them to pick 1/2/3 in one short message.

Input contract

Collect these inputs (ask only what is missing):

  1. Repo link or repo name
  2. Mode (1/2/3)
  3. Optional focus area (security, performance, DX, bugs, etc.)

Workflow

Step 1 — Normalize request

  • Resolve repo URL/name.
  • Confirm branch if needed (default: main/default branch).
  • Restate chosen mode in one line before starting.

Step 2 — Run selected mode

Mode 1: Quick scan (fast)

Run a lightweight review and return quickly.

Do:

  1. Inspect top-level structure (ls, find shallow)
  2. Read key docs (README, pyproject/package manifests, requirements, lock files)
  3. Detect tech stack and entry points
  4. Run simple high-risk pattern checks (secrets, unsafe exec patterns, risky network/file handling)
  5. Return:
    • 3–7 key findings
    • severity labels (High/Med/Low)
    • one practical next step

Mode 2: Full deep audit

Run a careful security + quality audit.

Do:

  1. Map full code layout
  2. Review critical paths (auth, input handling, file/network/process execution, external integrations)
  3. Check dependency and supply-chain risk signals
  4. Run available tests/lint/static checks where possible
  5. Validate findings with concrete file/line evidence
  6. Create a written audit report in the workspace (Markdown) and summarize it for the user

Output must include:

  • Executive summary
  • Prioritized findings (High → Low)
  • Evidence (file + line or command output)
  • Suggested fixes
  • Optional PR plan

Mode 3: Clone + run locally

Run and verify the repo on the local machine.

Do:

  1. Clone repo (or pull latest if already cloned)
  2. Detect runtime (Node/Python/etc.)
  3. Install dependencies using project-standard commands
  4. Run tests/build/start commands in safe order
  5. Capture errors/logs and triage root causes
  6. Return:
    • what ran successfully
    • what failed
    • exact failing command
    • beginner-friendly fix steps

Step 3 — Report clearly

Always provide:

  1. What you did
  2. What you found
  3. What to do next (1–3 concrete actions)

Prefer short bullet points. Use simple English when user is a beginner.

Safety and quality rules

  • Avoid destructive commands unless user approves.
  • Never expose secrets/tokens in replies.
  • Redact sensitive values in logs.
  • Do not claim execution you did not run.
  • If blocked by environment limits, say exactly what is blocked and offer the next best action.

Response template

Use this structure:

  • Mode: (1/2/3 + name)
  • Repo:
  • Status: done / partial / blocked
  • Key findings:
  • Evidence:
  • Next step:
