# GStack Review Stack
Use this skill to bring gstack-style review discipline into Codex and ClawHub workflows without copying the full upstream gstack playbooks into context.
This adapter is original guidance inspired by the public MIT-licensed `garrytan/gstack` project. When exact upstream behavior matters, inspect the local or upstream gstack clone and cite the specific file used.
## Start
1. Run `python3 scripts/find_gstack.py --summary` from the skill folder to locate the local gstack clone and list available upstream skill files.
2. Choose the narrowest review mode that matches the user's request.
3. Load only the reference file needed for that mode:
- Product, portfolio, scope, or slot decisions: `references/review-rubric.md`
- Release, QA, or "is this ready to ship": `references/ship-and-qa.md`
- UI/UX plans or visual quality: `references/design-review.md`
4. If the task involves live publishing, store actions, or irreversible changes, make the recommendation first and only execute after explicit user approval.
## Modes
### CEO/Product Review
Use for strategy, portfolio, scope expansion/reduction, product line focus, and "what should we build/keep/kill?"
Default stance: selective expansion with reduction discipline.
Output:
- Current facts and missing facts
- What is not in scope
- Candidate options
- Green/yellow/red classification
- Named tradeoffs
- Recommended decision and explicit next action
### Engineering Review
Use before implementation or release when architecture, data flow, edge cases, permissions, or maintainability are the risk.
Output:
- Critical paths
- Failure modes
- Test coverage map
- Security/privacy risk
- Performance and maintenance risks
- Blocking fixes before release
### Design Review
Use for UI/UX, landing pages, extension side panels, listing assets, screenshots, and flows.
Output:
- 0-10 rating by dimension
- What would make it a 10
- Specific edits, not taste adjectives
- Mobile/responsive and empty/error/loading states
- "AI-slop" flags: generic layouts, vague copy, ornamental visuals, overcomplicated text
### QA And Ship Gate
Use when the user asks to test, publish, deploy, submit, or release.
Output:
- Tests run and results
- User-flow evidence
- Remaining blockers
- Rollback or recovery path
- Clear ship/no-ship recommendation
## Decision Rules
- Prefer real demand over technical novelty.
- Prefer recurring use over one-time curiosity.
- Prefer narrow permissions and simple privacy disclosures.
- Keep scarce slots only for products that beat a named a_meta.json

# Design Review Use this for UI/UX plans, landing pages, store listings, extension popups, side panels, and screenshots. ## Score 0-10 Rate: - First-screen clarity - User job clarity - Trust and permission comfort - Visual originality - Interaction completeness - Mobile/responsive behavior - Copy simplicity - Empty/error/loading states For each score below 8, write the exact change that would raise it. ## AI-Slop Flags Flag: - Generic centered hero with vague claims - Overdecorated cards with no workflow density - Text that a nontechnical user cannot understand - Screenshots that do not show the actual product - Permission-heavy UX without trust explanation - Missing empty/error states - Unclear call to action ## Required Output Give concrete edits: - Replace this phrase with that phrase - Move this control here - Add/remove this state - Change screenshot composition - Simplify the listing promise

# Review Rubric Use this for CEO/product, portfolio, and publish/unpublish decisions. ## Shelf-Space Rule Treat scarce release slots as shelf space. A new candidate must beat a named incumbent or it stays draft. Score each candidate 0-5, weighted to 100: | Weight | Category | Question | |---:|---|---| | 30 | Demand reality | Does current usage, growth, retention, or user pull exist? | | 20 | Strategic coherence | Does this compound the product line and audience? | | 15 | Distribution efficiency | Does search/listing/channel fit make acquisition plausible? | | 15 | Quality and trust | Are permissions, privacy, reviews, and policy risk acceptable? | | 10 | Focus cost | Does it fragment attention or duplicate another product? | | 10 | Option value | Is the test reversible and likely to teach something useful? | ## Gates Green: - Real demand or a strong specific wedge - Clear user and job - Low policy and trust risk - Measurable 30-day success test Yellow: - Plausible but evidence-light - Needs clearer positioning - Overlaps another candidate - Keep as draft until it beats a live item Red: - Near-zero users and no growth signal - High policy/trust risk - Novelty-only or time-bound - Exists because it was easy to ship ## Required Output Include: - Ranked keep list - Ranked cut list - Hold-as-draft list - The exact evidence behind each cut - The first irreversible action that needs explicit approval

# Ship And QA Gate Use this for release, publish, deploy, submit-for-review, and "is it ready?" work. ## Ship Gate Before release: - Confirm package/version identity. - Confirm permission and privacy disclosures match actual behavior. - Run local unit and e2e checks appropriate to the blast radius. - Test the main user flow as a real user, not only with mocked internals. - Inspect logs/network errors for hidden failures. - Confirm listing screenshots, icons, URLs, support links, and privacy pages. - Identify store-side or account-side blockers separately from code blockers. ## QA Output Report: - Tests run - User flows verified - Critical failures found/fixed - Remaining blockers - Ship/no-ship recommendation - Rollback or recovery path ## Stop Conditions Stop before destructive actions unless the user explicitly approved: - Unpublish/delete/hide a live listing - Submit a store listing with inaccurate claims - Publish with known broken core flow - Ship a privacy disclosure that omits data sharing or permissions
